Krofofrom Residents Decry Deplorable Nature of Road Linking Adrobaa

Each morning, Ama Serwaa, like many other residents of Krofofrom in the Tano North Municipality (Ahafo Region), steps out of her home with a single concern weighing heavily on her mind: whether she will get to Adrobaa, the nearest commercial town, on time for her daily activities.
Ama Serwaa’s anxiety stems from the harsh reality that the Krofofrom–Adrobaa road, a key commercial route, has deteriorated into a dangerous stretch of deep potholes and eroded shoulders. The situation has left residents frustrated and desperate for a solution.
A Daily Struggle
“We are suffering due to how bad the road is, and this affects our daily commuting to Adrobaa and other adjoining communities,” Ama Serwaa bemoaned. “When it rains, cars get stuck, and sometimes we have to help push them out. It affects our work, our health, everything.”
The poor nature of the road has reached a critical point where standard vehicles often refuse to ply the route. Consequently, many residents are forced to rely on tricycles (locally known as Pragyia) as an alternative means of transportation.
Rising Costs for Commuters
The scarcity of transport options has led to exploitation. Riders operating along the route now charge exorbitant fares, placing an additional financial burden on commuters who have no other choice.
Impact on Agriculture
For farmers in the agrarian community, the situation is even more troubling. The poor road conditions mean that farm produce often spends long hours in transit.
Trucks struggle to navigate the terrain, often leading to delays that result in produce arriving at the market partially spoiled. This logistical nightmare leaves many farmers struggling to make ends meet after months of hard work.

Chief Appeals for Intervention
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Chief of Krofofrom, Nana Antwi Boasiako, recounted the severe impact of the road on the socio-economic lives of his people. He made a passionate appeal to the local government to urgently intervene.
“We are not asking for anything extraordinary. All we want is a road that is safe and passable. We are therefore appealing to the Municipal Assembly to deploy the DRIP machines to fix the road for us.”
As the rainy season approaches, the fear among residents is that Krofofrom could be completely cut off from Adrobaa if immediate action is not taken.
